Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Protesters encamped outside of the Israeli prime minister's home on Monday and disrupted a forum hosted by The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday amid a military push in Gaza City.
The protesters are aligned with the Hostages and Missing Family Forum and oppose the recently begun offensive in Gaza City by Israel Defense Forces, according to All Israel News.
They oppose the offensive, saying it will ensure none of the about 50 remaining hostages will be returned to Israel. About 20 of the hostages are considered to be alive.
They referred to the military offensive as the "sacrifice of the hostages" and accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of undertaking the offensive for political reasons.
"After 710 nights of being held captive by terrorists, tonight could be the final night for hostages who are barely surviving and our last chance to locate and recover the deceased for dignified burial," forum officials said in a prepared statement.
"The prime minister consciously chooses to sacrifice them on the altar of political considerations, while completely avoiding the position of the chief of staff and the security officials," the forum's statement said.
"Netanyahu bears personal responsibility for the fate of the hostages," it continued. "The people of Israel will not forget the sacrifice of the abductees and the soldiers. The writing is on the wall."
The protest occurred after President Donald Trump said Hamas moved the hostages above ground to make it more likely they could be killed by IDF attacks on Gaza City.

Trump said Hamas is using the hostages as human shields and called the move a "human atrocity" in a Truth Social post.
Protesters holding cardboard cutouts of some of the hostages in Gaza also disrupted a diplomatic conference at the Friends of Zion Museum in Jerusalem on Tuesday morning, The Jerusalem Post reported.
The news outlet hosted the conference, where protesters forced their way past security guards and entered the museum.
The protesters initially gathered on a sidewalk on the opposite side of the street where the museum is located, but they crossed to the nearby sidewalk before entering and disrupting the event.
They chanted slogans in Hebrew while inside the event venue before police arrived in sufficient numbers to cause them to voluntarily leave after about 45 minutes.
