Margot Robbie's BladeGlider

The star or Suicide Squad and The Wolf of Wall Street has become the ambassador for Nissan’s futuristic electric performance vehicle, known as the BladeGlider.

The launch event featured her racing around Monaco in the BladeGlider EV, and perhaps surprisingly, it really was her driving the entire time. She sped around Fairmont Hairpin (a corner in F1), passed another BladeGlider (actually, the other, as there are currently only two at the moment) at Massenet corner, and finished up at Casino Square.

Based on the Delta Wing EV sports car, the BladeGlider was originally released as a concept at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. It’s equipped with a Williams Advanced Engineering 270bhp electric motor, racing it’s way to 62mph in under five seconds.

Of her role, Robbie said “It’s a really exciting time for electric vehicles. More people are choosing to go electric, leading the way to a more sustainable future and the Nissan BladeGlider hints at the future of smarter performance cars.”

As Toyota radically rethought the EV with its launch of the Prius long ago, perhaps Nissan will succeed in the the same with it’s out-of-the-box thinking behind the BladeGlider.
