Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Formal legal charges will be filed Tuesday on Tyler Robinson days after caught by authorities in the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
DNA evidence linked Robinson, 22, to Kirk's September 10 killing at Utah Valley University and charges are expected in Utah County.
According to officials, Utah County Jeff Gray will hold a media conference later in the morning to formally unveil the multiple charges against Robinson, including aggravated murder, obstruction of justice and a felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury.
On Tuesday, Robinson is due to make his initial court appearance later in the afternoon as authorities release more information.
Robinson is expected to attend the court hearing virtually.
Utah County officials said Friday they stood "unwavering" in the conviction that "political violence has no place in our society."
"This shooting has cast a dark shadow over Utah County, the State of Utah and our nation," they wrote on social media.
"But in the face of this darkness, we remain steadfast in our commitment to justice, unity, and the rule of law."
A memorial services for the Turning Point USA founder is planned planned for Sunday at Arizona's State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
